It’s 5: 15 pm. Traffic is already slowing down and then it comes to a full stop. I’m stuck even before getting on the bridge.  This has become my normal work commute (上下班往返) routine. Ahead of me is a heavily jammed on-ramp (匝道). I stare at the endless rows of vehicles, felt down.  I always don’t want to accept the situation at first. This is not how it looks. The traffic will soon start moving. Seconds pass. Minutes pass. Looking at the rows of cars and trucks glittering (閃光) in the sun, I start counting - 299, 300, 301 - and I give up.  Suddenly I remember I’m one of the 300 helpless drivers. But I keep a close guard. When the cars do move, I move carefully, making sure not to knock into other vehicles. Finally, I make it onto the bridge. The traffic is still crawling at a snail’s pace. Tired and hungry, I become very anxious.  Just then, I hear a faint sound in the distance. The sound gradually becomes louder, until I can identify it as an emergency vehicle coming from behind. What do we do? The bridge is packed. There’s no room for us to move. But I’m wrong. Every single car quickly, yet carefully, moves to the side. Without thinking, I follow suit. The lane remains open for a few seconds during which the ambulance flashes through.  Afterward, every car moves back into formation (隊形). We close up the emergency lane, ready to resume (繼續(xù)) our patient wait. Back in my spot, I’m awestruck. I forget my fatigue (疲憊) and hunger. My anxiety is gone. I start reflecting upon what 300 fellow drivers and I just did.  How did we do that? Though we’re tired, we collectively decided to help the stranger who needed the time more desperately than we did. We drew on our compassion (同情心) and intelligence, requiring no instructions.  Although I may seem alone stuck on the bridge, I’m connected to all the other drivers. Together we could make the impossible possible. 61. How does the author feel when seeing the on-ramp?  A. Annoyed.  B. Discouraged.  C. Calm.  D. Shocked. 62. What does the author think when knowing an ambulance is getting close?  A. It will be hard for it to pass through.  B. Someone should direct the traffic.  C. All drivers will be willing to move.  D. Whoever is inside needs immediate help. 63. What does the word “awestruck underlined in paragraph 7 most probably mean?  A. Deeply doubtful.  B. Filled with admiration.  C. Extremely pleased.  D. Feeling terribly upset64. What does the author think made the miracle happen?  A. The drivers’ good driving skills.  B. Instructions from a stranger.  C. People’s kindness.   D. The drivers’ positive mindset. 65. What would be the best title for the passage?  A. Make Way in Traffic Jam B. Drivers Make Miracle C. A Successful Movement Without Thinking D. When an Ambulance Meets Kindness C When I first heard about the improvisation (即興交流) class, I was hesitating. As a quiet and shy girl, I feared improvising in front of strangers. However, I knew I wanted to work as a science communicator after finishing my PhD, so it seemed like a perfect opportunity to learn how to speak and communicate with others effectively. I signed up, knowing the experience would give me help.  During our first class, we learned an important idea of improvisation: “yes, and.” It means that, as improvisers, we’d better accept what fellow performers say. If someone says that rhinos (犀牛) are librarians, for example, then rhinos are librarians. We do not question the logic; we say “yes” and then continue with the scene as if nothing is wrong. The first few scenes were hard, but as weeks turned into months, I became more comfortable and even started to enjoy our classes. I became better at listening, understanding my conversation partners, and communicating clearly in the moment. Once when I was giving a presentation about my science, an audience member surprised me with a question that didn’t grow out of the information I’d presented. Instead of getting confused and nervous, I used the “yes, and” idea--accepting the question and letting my mind focus on why it was asked. That helped me find a suitable answer. I got pretty excited about it.  The advantage of improvisation go beyond communication. Before attending the class, I would get stuck when my experiments produced unexpected data, thinking that I had made a mistake.  But now, instead of getting discouraged, I will stay open to the possibility that the results are real, keep finding out the data and end up identifying a new type of cell--one that isn’t behaving as expected.  I think all scientists can learn a lot from this lesson. If the data say rhinos are librarians, then it’s worth finding out whether rhinos are, in fact, librarians. As scientists, our job isn’t to challenge data that support a preconceived (先入為主的) story, but to say “yes, and.”66. Why did the author attend the improvisation class?  A. To get a different experience.  B. To finish her Ph. D.  C. To give up her job as a science communicator D. To improve her speaking and communicating ability. 67. What was the author’s change after attending the improvisation class?  A. She formed her own idea quickly.  B. She came up with lots of creative responses C. She paid more attention to the logic of answers.  D. She became a good listener before giving an opinion68. The author mentions using the “yes, and” idea to her scientific experiments to __________. A. explain the process of using the method B. show the advantages of the improvisation class C. share her own research experiences with readers D. attract fellow scientists to attend the improvisation class69. What can be inferred about scientists from the last paragraph?  A. They should attend the improvisation class.  B. They should question all preconceived ideas.  C. They should carry on research by agreeing with earlier data unwillingly.  D. They should try to improve their professional knowledge. 70. According to the passage, we’d better answer the question “Monkeys can be guards.” like __________. A. “Yes, and I can’t believe it”  B. “Yes, but a little funny.” C. “Yes, and it’s interesting.”  D. “Yes, maybe not.” 五、詞與短語填空 (5小題,每小題2分,滿分10)  仔細閱讀下面五個句子,然后用下面方框中所給的單詞或短語填空,使每個句子在結構、句義和邏輯上正確。 (提示:方框中有兩個單詞或短語是多余的。)  71.
