In the leafy Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey lies a very different kind of farm: the astonishing Funny Farm, a not-for-profit animal shelter open to the public two days a week, created by New Jersey's own Doctor Doolittle, Laurie Zaleski.
Every animal here is a rescue-abused, abandoned, disabled-and Zaleski has healed and protected more than 600 animals over the last 20 years, from retired racehorses to raucous roosters. “We have 115 roosters,” she said.
In Zaleski's eyes, Funny Farm is a perfect place, especially for animals. And it is the same with people. When you walk through the gates, you can feel the inner peace and harmony, because they all get along here.
As she writes in her book Funny Farm : My Unexpected Li fe with 600 Rescue Animals, “there are lessons here for our polarized, at-each-others-throat society, because the creatures on the Funny Farm live in harmony, no matter how different they are. It's not quite the fairy tale of the lion lying down with the lamb, but as friendships go, this bond between Emily the emu（鴯鹋） and a goose named Airplane （because of her wounded wings） is pretty jaw-dropping.”

With funding from Royal London's Changemakers Programme, NEMI Teas is a social enterprise（企業(yè)）helping to train refugees （難民） for future employment. NEMI Teas is a specialist company offering fair trade, organic tea blends, such as loose tea and plastic-free, compostable pyramid teabags. Royal London's Changemakers Programme supports social enterprises that focus on promoting financial recovery and helping people move fairly to a sustainable world. Now in its second year,the programme has announced ten new social enterprises, including NEMI Teas.

People who consume a diet including flavanol（黃烷醇）-rich in foods and drinks， including tea, fruits like apples and berries, could lead to lower blood pressure, according to the first study using objective measures of thousands of UK residents' diet.
The findings, published in Scienti fic Reports, studied the diet of more than 25,000 people in Norfolk, UK and compared what they ate with their blood pressure. In contrast to most other studies investigating links between nutrition and health, the researchers did not rely on study participants reporting their diet, but instead measured flavanol intake objectively using nutritional biomarkers-indicators of dietary intake, metabolism or nutritional status that are present in our blood.
The difference in blood pressure between those with the lowest 10% of flavanol intake and those with the highest 10% of intake was between 2 and 4 mmHg. This is comparable to meaningful changes in blood pressure observed in those following a Mediterranean diet or Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet. Notably, the effect was more conspicuous in participants with high blood pressure.
This research confirms the results from previous dietary intervention studies and shows that the same results can be achieved with a habitual diet rich in flavanols. In the British diet, the main sources are tea, cocoa, apples and berries.
Professor Gunter Kuhnle, a nutritionist at the University of Reading who led the study, said, “We are delighted to see that in our study, there is a meaningful and significant association between flavanol consumption and lower blood pressure. ”
“This study adds key insights to a growing body of evidence supporting the benefits of dietary flavanols in health and nutrition. This suggests if the general public increased its flavanol intake， there could be an overall reduction in cardiovascular （心血管的） disease incidence,” Gunter added.

The Burj Khalifa's chief engineer was Bill Baker, and with the help of thousands of workers from South Asia, they achieved the impossible. It is truly a wonder of engineering. There are a total of 162 floors in the tower. The Armani Hotel occupies fifteen of its floors and has 304 rooms. There are restaurants, swimming pools, company offices, observation decks, and even a mall. The only thing more amazing than staring up at this structure is experiencing it from the inside.
