Step 8 Role-play  1. Read the conversation in 2d and try to understand the meaning. Answer the following questions  1What’s wrong with Kim?   She found her sister looking through her things yesterday. She took some of her new magazines and CDs.   2What does Dave say to her?   Dave says to her,“I guess you could tell her to say sorry. But why don’t you forget about it so that you can be friends again? Although she’s wrongit’s not a big deal.   2. Read the conversation after the tape.   3. Complete the passage according to 2d.   Kim looked sad because she found her sister looking through her things yesterday. She took some of her new magazines and CDs. Although she gave them back to her,she was still angry with her. Dave guessed she could tell her to say sorry. But why not forget about it so that they can be friends again? Although she’s wrongit’s not a big deal. Kim agreed with him.   4. Practice the conversation. Then let some pairs act out the conversation.   Step 9 Cooperative inquiry  Discuss the following language points in groups and fill in the blanks.   1. allow v. 允許,準(zhǔn)許,allow sb. to do sth. 允許某人做某事。  我父母不允許我熬夜。  My parents don’t allow me to stay up late.   史密斯先生允許邁克開(kāi)車(chē)去那。  Mr. Smith allowed Mike to drive drive there.   2. wrong adj. 錯(cuò)誤的,不對(duì)的,其反義詞為right。常用于句式What’s wrong?,表示“怎么了?”,相當(dāng)于What’s the matter?。  3. big deal是英語(yǔ)中的一個(gè)固定搭配,表示“重要的事情”,多用于非正式交流。用來(lái)表達(dá)否定意義時(shí),常說(shuō)It’s not a big deal. It’s no big deal.,表示說(shuō)話人并不認(rèn)為某事有什么了不起。  4. look through意為“快速查看,瀏覽”。  5. too much,much tootoo many 的區(qū)別:  too much意為“太多”,后接不可數(shù)名詞;much too 意為“”,后跟形容詞或副詞too many 意為“太多”,修飾可數(shù)名詞,后接名詞復(fù)數(shù)。  6. 關(guān)于good的短語(yǔ):  be good at... 擅長(zhǎng)…… be good for... 對(duì)……有好處  be good to... 對(duì)……好 be good with... 善于應(yīng)付……  7. Why don’t you +動(dòng)詞原形?相當(dāng)于Why not+動(dòng)詞原形?。用于提出建議,意為“(你/你們)為什么不做某事呢?”。  Why don’t you talk talk to your parents?   = Why not talk to your parents?  8. so that意為“以便,為了”,引導(dǎo)目的狀語(yǔ)從句,從句中常含有情態(tài)動(dòng)詞cancould,will,would等。  我乘了輛出租車(chē),以便能早一點(diǎn)兒到那里。  I took a taxi so that I could get there earlier.
