Most experts in the scientific community say the Yeti is a myth,an imaginary story. The man﹣like creature is part of Nepali tradition and is said to live high in the Himalayan mountains.
In the tweet, the Indian army said it found the footprints close to a camp near Mount Makalu on April 9.The footprints measured 81 centimeters by 38 centimeters. The tweet did not explain how a mythical beast could leave footprints.

The Indian army's Twitter post has drawn criticism by some on social media. One user, for example, put an image of a big hole in Bombay and said that Yeti footprints could be found there.Other users said that the supposed Yeti tracks appeared to be a single foot line. One user suggested the Yeti may have been riding a kind of strange bicycle.
Mount Makalu and the Yeti
Mount Makalu, where the Indian Army took the photographs,is one of the highest mountains in the world. It stands near the Makalu﹣Barun valley,an area very far from human population. The area has already been explored by researchers looking for the Yeti.
Daniel C.Taylor is one of them.He wrote a book on the secret of the Yeti.Taylor pointed out that the footprints likely came from a bear.Taylor told the Reuters news agency that if the footprints came from "an animal or a single animal",it's the size of a dinosaur.Taylor added, "One needs to really confirm those measurements of the footprint size because we know for sure that there are no dinosaurs living in the Barun valley."
Since the 1920s,tales of a wild beast have attracted climbers in Nepal and around the world. In 2008,Japanese climbers returning from a mountain in western Nepal told Reuters they had seen footprints, which they thought belonged to the Yeti.Although they carried cameras, video equipment and telescopes, they did not see or take any photographs of the creature. In 2017,a group of international researchers studied many Yeti samples. The researchers concluded the samples belonged to bears.

15.(8分)When people have positive feelings for one another then they are able to sit down and talk about what really matters, that is,the true purpose and meaning of life. When envy and jealousy flee, truth has a rich soil to grow and ripen.
In order to really talk, people have to be willing to admit their weakness, and open up.But if there is anger, envy, jealousy or feelings of superiority, truth cannot exist because everyone is measuring what they are saying, trying to avoid making themselves vulnerable (脆弱的) in any way.
Perhaps the biggest truth﹣killers of all are envy and jealousy.Envy is desiring what someone else has, while jealousy is feeling unhappy that someone has something that you would like.
The objects of envy and jealousy can be material possessions such as jewelry and houses, and other intangibles such as popularity and respect.
Most of us hold back when we think about being envious or jealous. But do we really understand how these feelings express themselves? It's not always so obvious﹣ ﹣unless we slow down and examine ourselves,we may miss the signs.
Look at Johnson. When he missed an award,he accused the guy who got it of being lucky, ambitious,or cheating the system. He thought himself better and the guy was really mediocre, not deserving such an award.
We may not in truth want what the other person has,but we don't want them to have it either. This is what we call "Dead﹣end Envy".It's the feeling of dissatisfaction that occurs when someone else owns/achieves something and you aren't happy about it.If you turn envy or "Dead﹣end Envy" inside out,you get schadenfreude (幸災(zāi)樂(lè)禍),taking pleasure in someone else's misfortune. In an earlier study,"neural correlates (神經(jīng)關(guān)聯(lián)) of envy and schadenfreude were tied together, with the magnitude (量級(jí)) of one predicting the strength of the other," says researcher Matthew D.Lieberman who specializes in respect and how people get along.
Can envy ever be positive? In terms of motivating people to push themselves to succeed﹣ yes.But in terms of personal relationships? That's harder to prove a positive.Once you accept that someone is your superior in one aspect or another,or has been blessed with a unique talent or quality, and they become a role model, envy may turn into something else, respect.
(1)The author wants to tell us that when people talk with others, help(s) talk deeply.
(2)According to the writer, what's the relation between envy/ jealousy and truth? Please answer it in your own words (Within 10 words)
(3)What's the purpose of mentioning the example of Johnson? (Within 10 words)
(4)Do you think envy can be positive? Why? (At least two reasons and in about 40 words)
16.(8分)I was fifteen months old,a happy carefree kid until the day fell.It was a bad fall.I landed on a glass rabbit which cut my eye badly enough to blind it.Trying to save the eye,the doctors stitched (縫合) the eyeball together where it was cut, leaving a big ugly scar in the middle of my eye.So a scarred, sightless, cloudy and gray eye lived on with me.And as I grew, this sightless eye in so many ways controlled me.
I walked with my face looking at the floor so people would not see the ugly me.Sometimes people, even strangers, asked me embarrassing questions or made hurtful remarks. When the kids played games,I was always the "monster".I grew up imagining that people looked at me in an unusual way,as if my appearance were my fault.I always felt like I was a freak.
Yet mama would say to me,at every turn, "Hold your head up high and face the world." It became a litany (祈禱文) that I relied on.She had started when I was young. She would hold me in her arms and stroke my hair and say, "If you hold your head up high,it will be okay, and people will see your beautiful soul." She continued this message whenever I wanted to hide. Those words have meant different things to me over the years. As a little girl,I thought mama meant, "Be careful or you will fall down or bump into something because you are not looking" As an adolescent, even though I tended to look down to hide my shame,I found that sometimes when I held my head up high and let people know me,they liked me.My mama's words helped me begin to realize that by letting people look at my face,I let them recognize the intelligence and beauty behind both eyes even if they couldn't see them on the surface.
In high school I was successful both academically and socially.I was even elected class president, but on the inside I still felt like a freak. All I really wanted was to look like everyone else. When things got really bad,I would cry to my mama and she would look at me with loving eyes and say, "Hold your head up high and face the world.Let them see the beauty that is inside." Her love and encouragement gave me the confidence to overcome my own doubt.
"Hold your head up high",has been heard many times in my home. Each of my children has felt its invitation. The gift my mama gave me lives on in another generation.
(1)According to paragraph I,as a result of the terrible accident,the writer .
(2)By saying "Hold your head up high and face the world",her mother meant to .

When it comes to paying the bill, expect anything. After a social outing, there is no common convention as to who will pay the bill.Even if someone has invited you out, that doesn't mean they will pay. They may just want to spend some time with you.On the other hand, some people may insist on paying.
There is a lot to learn about the unusual habits and characteristics of the British people when you visit London for the first time.(當(dāng)你第一次訪問(wèn)倫敦時(shí),有很多關(guān)于英國(guó)人不尋常的習(xí)慣和特點(diǎn)的東西需要了解。)
In Britain,we might say that "is anyone else cold?" and expect the person nearest the open window to close it.(在英國(guó),我們可能會(huì)說(shuō)"還有人冷嗎?"
On the other hand, some people may insist on paying.(另一方面,一些人可能會(huì)堅(jiān)持支付他們的份額。)
It is literally a house for everyone in the community to sit, relax and socialize.(它實(shí)際上是社區(qū)中每個(gè)人都可以坐下、放松和社交的房子。)
Some pubs will provide games and books for people to play and entertain themselves as they would at home, while others will put on live music or even a comedy show.(一些酒吧會(huì)提供游戲和書籍,供人們像在家里一樣玩耍和娛樂(lè),而另一些則會(huì)播放現(xiàn)場(chǎng)音樂(lè),甚至是喜?。
(1)The author wants to tell us that when people talk with others, opening up help(s) talk deeply.
(2)According to the writer, what's the relation between envy/ jealousy and truth? Please answer it in your own words (Within 10 words)
They have a bad influence on truth.
(3)What's the purpose of mentioning the example of Johnson? (Within 10 words)
In order to introduce "Dead﹣end Envy".
(4)Do you think envy can be positive? Why? (At least two reasons and in about 40 words)
Yes.Because jealousy can motivate people to promote their success and it can turn into respect.
In order to really talk, people have to be willing to admit their weakness, and open up(要想真正交談,人們必須愿意承認(rèn)自己的弱點(diǎn),并敞開(kāi)心扉。)可知,作者想告訴我們,當(dāng)人們與他人交談時(shí),積極的情緒有助于深入交談。故填opening up.
But if there is anger, envy, jealousy or feelings of superiority, truth cannot exist because everyone is measuring what they are saying, trying to avoid making themselves vulnerable in any way.(但如果存在憤怒、羨莫,嫉妒或優(yōu)越感真理就不可能存在,因?yàn)槊總€(gè)人都在衡量他們所說(shuō)的話,試圖避免以任何方式讓自己變得脆弱。) They have a bad influence on truth.
根據(jù)We may not in truth want what the other person has,but we don't want them to have it either. This is what we call "Dead﹣end Envy".(事實(shí)上,我們可能并不想要?jiǎng)e人擁有的東西,但我們也不希望他們擁有。 I(lǐng)n order to introduce "Dead﹣end Envy".
In terms of motivating people to push themselves to succeed﹣ yes.(嫉妒可以是積極的嗎? Yes.Because jealousy can motivate people to promote their success and it can turn into respect.
(1)According to paragraph I,as a result of the terrible accident, the writer had her eye hurt .
(2)By saying "Hold your head up high and face the world",her mother meant to encourage her in daily life .
(3)What does the underlined sentence in the last paragraph mean?
Mama's inspirational words had deep effects on the writer's children.
(4)What message does the writer mainly want to convey through her story?
Never give up whenever in trouble.

The gift my mama gave me lives on in another generation.(我媽媽給我的禮物在另一代人中繼續(xù)流傳。) Mama's inspirational words had deep effects on the writer's children.
通讀全文,根據(jù)When things got really bad,I would cry to my mama and she would look at me with loving eyes and say, "Hold your head up high and face the world.Let them see the beauty that is inside." Her love and encouragement gave me the confidence to overcome my own doubt.(當(dāng)事情變得非常糟糕時(shí),我會(huì)哭著對(duì)媽媽說(shuō),她會(huì)用充滿愛(ài)的眼睛看著我說(shuō):"抬起頭來(lái),面向世界。讓他們看到內(nèi)在的美。"她的愛(ài)和鼓勵(lì)給了我克服自己懷疑的信心。)可知,作者想要表達(dá)的是遇到困難不能放棄。故填Never give up whenever in trouble.

根據(jù)句中關(guān)鍵詞used to可知,此處考查短語(yǔ)used to do sth "過(guò)去常常做某事",句意為:我們過(guò)去每晚都睡得很好。
根據(jù)句中情態(tài)動(dòng)詞might可知,其后跟動(dòng)詞原形,故is改為be。故填is﹣be。
my husband disagreed and said是句子的主句,其后從句中,it was是主語(yǔ)和謂語(yǔ);副詞likely表示"可能"。 故填\ be。
根據(jù)were both afraid可知,此處考查短語(yǔ)be afraid of"害怕"。 故填N of。
根據(jù)下文"噪音越來(lái)越大"和"they searched for the noise maker""他們尋找噪音制造者",可知此句為時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)從句,引導(dǎo)詞為as"當(dāng)...時(shí)"。故填With﹣As。
根據(jù)句子中的it was a bird和 hurt not only its legs but also its wings",可知此句考查定語(yǔ)從句的引導(dǎo)詞;先行詞bird是物,故關(guān)系代詞使用which/that。句意為:他們發(fā)現(xiàn)這是一只鳥(niǎo),不僅傷了腿,還傷了翅膀。故填where﹣which。
根據(jù)句中關(guān)鍵詞made us可知,此處考查短語(yǔ)make sb do sth "讓某人做某事",句意為:我們對(duì)它進(jìn)行了急救,這讓我們受到了警察的稱贊。故being要改為be。故填being﹣be。
故填that﹣if。
句意為:這是多么難忘的一次經(jīng)歷啊故此句為感嘆句,結(jié)合an unforgettable experience可知句子符合what引導(dǎo)的感嘆句構(gòu)成:What +a/an+形容詞+單數(shù)可數(shù)名詞+主語(yǔ)+謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞/系動(dòng)詞!故填How﹣What。
